Choosing a USB-C hub
A short checklist for everyday hub shopping. This is not a ranking and not a laboratory review.
Start with the host
Confirm whether your laptop or tablet USB-C port supports data, DisplayPort Alt Mode, and charging. A hub cannot add capabilities the host port does not provide.
List the ports you actually need
Count HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, USB-A devices, Ethernet, SD readers, and whether you need a USB-C pass-through for charging. Extra unused ports add bulk and heat without helping you.
Check power delivery honestly
If you want to charge while docked, look for a published USB Power Delivery wattage that meets your computer's charger rating. Marketing phrases like “fast charging” without a watt number are incomplete.
Read marketplace listings carefully
Match the model name, connector count, and claimed standards to the product photo. Prefer sellers with clear return terms for your territory. A sponsored link on PickWise is not proof that we tested the unit.
